Many creators dream of making a living from TikTok, and while it's not the easiest thing to do, you can certainly make it work if you're willing to put in the time and effort. In fact, many creators have been able to quite their day job and live sustainably just on the money they earn from their TikTok account. If this is your dream, read on to find out all the ways you can monetise your TikTok content.
Try our TikTok Followers
Buying tiktok followers is a way to increase engagement at an instant.
The most obvious and effective way to make money off TikTok is by joining the Creator Fund. While not available in all regions, the Creator Fund is what earns most of the biggest TikTok stars a huge chunk of their income. The Creator Fund is basically a stash of money that TikTok pays out to creators who receive a lot of likes and comments.
The more engagement your video receives, the more money you'll get from the fund. Generally, longer videos make more money from the Creator Fund, so if monetising your account using this method is your goal, aim to make videos that are at least one minute long.
The Creator Fund is currently available in the US, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain and your account must have at least 10,000 followers (more on that later). If you're not in one of those countries but want to make money anyway, don't despair - there are plenty more ways to monetise your account.
2. Get Paid to Promote a Brand
Another one of the most effective ways to make money off TikTok is to get paid for advertising a brand's products or services. You'll of course have to declare it as an ad on your profile, but if you work with a well-known brand you could earn big bucks.
Brands tend to only work with creators who have a certain number of followers, so focus on building your follower count and engagement before trying to make money from brand collabs.
3. Use Affiliate Marketing Programmes
Affiliate marketing is when you make money every time somebody visits a website and/or makes a purchase through a link you've given them or a specific discount code for your profile. It's a win for the brand because their web traffic increases, so as a reward you receive a small bonus either every time a link is clicked or a product is bought. You usually receive either a percentage of the product purchased or a fixed amount, depending on the affiliate programme in question.
Amazon and eBay have two of the most popular affiliate programmes, but there are some that exist with smaller brands. If you choose to do affiliate marketing, be as transparent as possible in your posts, making it clear that you earn a small percentage from linked being clicked. After all, the most successful TikTok creators are the ones who create a trusting environment with their followers.
4. Open a TikTok Shop
A TikTok shop does what it says on the tin - it allows you to open a shop with products that users can buy directly in the app. You can see through TikTok lives, shoppable videos, or a product showcase.
TikTok shops mean the user isn't navigated away from your profile like they are with affiliate links - with TikTok shop, it all stays in the app. Plus, with analytics, you can see which items are and aren't selling so well, allowing you to better manage your stock.
5. Create a Third-Party Subscription Platform Profile
If you have a large following on TikTok but you struggle to make money from it, consider signing up for another platform such as Patreon, where your followers can keep up to date with your content with a paid subscription. To make it worth their while, you could offer BTS or unique content on your Patreon that can't be found on TikTok, giving your followers a reason to subscribe to your on this external platform.
6. Set Up a Donation Page
Like number five, there are ways to make money from having engaged followers on TikTok, even if you don't do so on TikTok directly. Many creators will provide a link in their bio to a 'Buy Me a Coffee' donation page, where they ask followers to enjoy their content to donate the price of a coffee to enable them to make money for their hard work.
While it's not quite the same as making money directly from TikTok, it does allow you to capitalise on your TikTok following.
7. Turn on Live Gifts
LIVE Gifts isn't available as a feature everywhere, but if you're in a region where this feature exists, it will allow you to earn 'Diamonds' depending on how successful your live videos are. If you activate LIVE Gifts when you start your video, your audience can send you virtual gifts, which flash up on the screen in various formats. They'll need to buy these using TikTok 'coins', which they pay for.
You can then redeem the Diamonds you received for money. If your followers tend to be engaged with live content, this could be a great way to monetise it.
